Description
George Takei discusses his autobiography, “To the Stars.” He begins by explaining that he played Mr. Sulu in the original series of Star Trek. He talks about his early life growing up in Los Angeles and what it was like to live in Japanese-American relocation camps. He discusses attending the University of California at Los Angeles for acting, and describes what training an actor must have before landing a major role. Takei talks about auditioning for Star Trek and working with Gene Roddenberry, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, and DeForest Kelley. He discusses the differences between the Star Trek television series and the films. He ends the interview by talking about the strengths and weaknesses of the spin-off television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
