Description
Photograph of two panoramic drawings published by Adolph Witteman depicting the Embarcadero and the Market Street Wharf of San Francisco, 1884-1885. The top drawing depicts the Embarcadero a tugboat is visible among the sailing masts of other ships at the dock. A free sailing vessel makes its way out of the harbor to the right. Mountains and other ships are visible in the right distance. The second scene depicts the Wharf a clock tower is visible at center above a number of labeled stations from which streetcars and horse-drawn coaches are departing. They are, from left to right: "Red Bluff", "Napa", "Calistoca", "Yuma", "Portland, OR", "St. Louis", and "San Jose". The rest are illegible. A sign at the center reads "[...] Ferry".
