Description
Mrs. Anne Morrow Lindbergh became the first woman to receive the Hubbard Gold Medal of Honor of the National Geographic Society. At a private ceremony, which she requested, the presentation was made as her famous husband, Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh watched. Dr. Gilbert Grosvenor, president of the society, is shown making the presentation. Mrs. Lindbergh received the coveted honor for her exploits in the air as radio operator and navigator for her husband in 40,000 miles of exploratory flights.
