Description
The altar of North Sacramento's St. Joseph's Catholic Church, located at 1725 El Monte Avenue, is the subject of this February 1928 photograph. Named in honor of Joseph of Nazarene, the parish was founded with the development of North Sacramento in the 1920s. The church was built in 1935 under the architectural guidance of Harry Devine. With the advent of the Second World War and the establishment of McClellan Field nearby, the church offered a 5:30 AM service as well as an 8:00 AM mass at the base.
