The trial for the murder of Johnny Stompanato was held Friday, April 11, 1958. Defense attorney, Jerry Giesler, determines the death to be a "justifiable homicide." Cheryl Crane, the accused, did not have to testify, thanks to Giesler, who said she was a juvenile and he did not want her to go through the trauma again. So her mother, Lana Turner, was the star witness. Here, Turner, trying desperately for composure, twists and turns and primps as she waits to be called to the witness stand.
