Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated May 16, 1961 partially reads, "A 15-year-old Glendale High School honor student today beat and strangled to death his mother, a prominent San Fernando Valley clubwoman. Ronald Dennis Wolff, 1014 Montery [sic] Rd., calmly walked into Glendale Police Station today and told Sgt. William Barry: 'I want to report something... I just killed my mother... with an axe... an axe handle.' His clothes were smeared with blood. He said he had planned to kill her on Mother's Day. Officers found the body of Mrs. Bertha Wolff, 42, lying in a pool of blood in the living room of the grey stucco home she shared with the youth and another son." Pictured is Ronald Wolff, being questioned by officers at police station. He gave no specific reason for slaying his mother.
