Udsendt af DMS/Danmission til Tanzania, 1987-2001. Her var hun lærer på Ntoma Husholdningsskole, Bukoba, hvor kvinder kan skabe sig et erhverv, en selvbevidsthed og mulighed for at forsørge deres familie. Fra 2004 blev Else Højvang genudsendt til den lutherske Kirke, ELCT, Karagwe stift med placering som sognemedhjælper i det afsides liggende Kyerwa provsti, der består af 4 pastorater med 35 lokalmenigheder. Her har Else Højvang haft en koordinerende funktion i menighedsarbejdet med bl.a. kvinde- og ungdomsarbejde, omsorg for AIDS-syge, etablering af et kursus- og mødecenter i Kyerwa, socialt/diakonalt arbejde og sjælesorg. Else Højvang. School teacher, 1979. Course at the Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham. Area secretary of FDF/FPF (Junior organisations), 1979-84. Teacher at Haslev Folk High School, 1985-86. Sent by DMS/Danmission to Tanzania, 1987-2001. Here she was teaching at Ntoma Home Craft School, Bukoba, a place for women to get vocational training, develop self-reliance and be able to support their families. From 2004 Else Højvang was re-sent as missionary to the Evg. Lutheran Church, ELCT, Karagwe Diocese, as parish assistant to the remote Kyerwa Deanery, consisting of 4 Pastorates with 35 local congregations. Here Else Højvang has played a coordinating role in the congregation work, with e.g. women- and youth ministries, care for AIDS patients, establishment of a training centre for courses and meetings in Kyerwa, social/diaconal activities and pastoral care.
