Description
Photograph of the northwest corner of Olive Street and Ninth Street, ca.1910. Visible in the center of the picture is the wooden lattice-fronted building that houses Howard & Smith--Nurserymen. Behind this building is what the picture file card identifies as the tallest eucalyptus tree in the world, which consists of a long narrow trunk that reaches far above the surrounding utility wires and is topped by a small bunch of leaves. There are other buildings around, most notably a two-story structure behind the nursery. There are two cars parked on the street, one on each side, and around the buildings are other trees, including a palm on the right side of the image.
