Box title: Seeing California through the stereoscope.
Gray mount.
In the foreground is the cut end of a giant Sequoia which projects back into the photo; in front of the cut end stands the torso of a man with his hand on his hip who hatless looks to the right; above him sits another man in a white shirt who sits in a cleft of the cut end; he also looks to the right; in the middle distance sit a man and his dog on the log; further men up the log sit as a measure of the length of the log.
