Photograph article dated October 30, 1961 partially reads, "He's Daniel W. Fry, who says that 11 years ago he rode on a space craft from outer space that took him from White Sands Proving Ground, N. M., to New York City and back in less than 30 minutes. Fry was in the Valley from his home in Merlin, Ore., to speak Friday before the Valley's Amateur Astrophysical Society at Valley State College, Northridge."
