Photo--black and white: Two band members Henry and Leonard Owens stand in uniforms and caps, Henry with drum and Leonard with trumpet. They are members of the Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW) band, Sebastopol Parlor 143 which was established in 1902. Background: General Albert M. Winn, a Virginian who came to California in the Gold Rush, organized the Native Sons of the Golden West in 1875 whose purpose was to celebrate the fortitude of the men and women pioneers who emigrated to California.
