Description
The Richardson Bay Bridge was rebuilt in 1956. An expansion joint will soon fill this 20-foot gap in the new bridge. Carpenter foreman Robert Abbott nonchalantly crawls out on a girder over the gap, unperturbed by the water of the bay 40 feet below. Despite bad weather and supply trouble, the bridge was "pretty much on schedule" according to Superintendent Robert Dasheill.
