Description
Tinted lantern slide showing an orchid in Nyasaland. Its stem, leaves and surrounding vegetation have been tinted green and the flowers tinted red. The Nyasaland area was (and Malawi is) well known for its orchids, having one of the largest number of orchid species of any African country. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland. It was originally held by the Church of Scotland, and generated by J.W MacKay.
