Description
Cushing cottage at the corner of Cottage Ave. and W. Blithedale Ave., Mill Valley, CA. The cottage was originally built by Sidney Cushing in about 1895. He used it as a base during construction of the Mill Valley and Mount Tamalpais Scenic Railway. Years later, he expanded the home, adding several bedrooms and a bath (addition at upper left), and the Cushing family then used it as their Blithedale summer retreat. In about 1915, Grace Cushing made the cottage her year-round home. The building stands today at No. 1 Cottage Ave.
