Photograph of the ruin of Mission San Diego de Alcala (founded 1769), California, ca.1889. Interior of old town chapel (where Ramona was married Ramona was made famous in the novel of the same name by Helen Hunt Jackson). Pews run up the center of the room towards the altar. Five statues of figures plus a large crucifix are on or near the altar. A tapestry hangs behind. Several framed pictures with crosses on them hang from the side walls.
