Title supplied by cataloger.; Information from letter dated 3/24/1958 from Frank B. Putnam, curator for Security Pacific. A view of Pine Street in Long Beach looking south from Fifth Avenue towards the ocean includes the First Methodist Church, northeast corner of Pine and Fifth, built in 1899. Around 1909 the church was moved to California and Tenth Streets. It then became the Central Church (Methodist) and then the New Hope Baptist Church, by which time it had an African-American congregation. When the church shown was moved, a new First Methodist Church opened at the same site on August 9, 1909.
