Description
Boy picking prunes on his hands and knees. Prunes were the largest crop in the Santa Clara Valley. Le petit prune d'Agen, introduced to the Santa Clara Valley by Louis Pellier in the 1850's, was ideal for drying, as it retained flavor and texture. Ripe prunes were shaken from the trees and picked off the ground.
