Photograph caption dated January 30, 1961 reads "Assembled for its first 'new' family portrait is the Edward Sawlsville family of Sepulveda. Sawlsville, 57, right front, returned to the Valley Friday night from Waukesha, Wis., with the seven adopted additions to the family. He and his wife, left front, agreed to adopt their grandchilren (sic), orphaned when their mother died of cancer and their father was killed 20 days later in an auto accident. The Sawlsvilles, who live at 9038 Orion Ave., already had three of their own : Dennis, 13, left rear; Diana, 9, third from right, and David, 11, right rear. The new children are, front, from left, Cynthia, 12; Leslie, 1, and Leonard, 10. At rear, from left, are Terry, 13; Sandra, 14, holding Eva, 2, and Sharon, 9."
