Photograph of a man and automobile on the west side of Black Range in Death Valley, ca.1900-1950. An automobile is visible to the left of center in what appears to be a dried creek bed. A man can be seen standing to the right of the automobile with his legs spread and hands in his pockets. Canyon walls slope upwards to the left of the automobile, while vertical rock walls can be seen behind the man. An upwards sloping dirt hill is visible at right. Photoprint reads: "On the west-side of Black Range 2 1/2 miles from the lowest point in the USA, 337 feet below sea level".
