Photograph caption dated May 16, 1964 reads "Noel Carroll overhauls John Garrison of San Jose in the stretch to lead Villanova to a win in the two-mile relay at the 24th annual Coliseum Relays Friday night (pictured). Carroll's driving finish enabled the eastern visitors to tie the world mark of 7:19.0. The top picture shows Garrison leading Carroll going into the last lap of the crowd-pleasing race."
