Description
A group of four men and four women are posed in front of a wooden shack or cottage on the beach, with other beach shacks in the background, in Santa Monica, California. One man sits in a wicker chair, and curtains can be seen in the window. A pier is in the distance, and the bluffs are on the left.
Title devised by cataloger. "Santa Monica, Cal." is written in pencil on the back of the photograph, under the photographer's stamp: "E.G. Morrison, Phot." Date devised by cataloger based on year photographer died (1888). This image is used in Ernest Marquez publication "Santa Monica Beach" (Angel City Press, 2004), page 104, with the caption "Shanty on the beach, 1880s." Light green mount.
