Description
Cassandra Lam is a 19 year old Vietnamese-American who currently attends UCLA as a 2nd year studying English and Political Science. Born in June 7, 1991 in West Covina, she aspires to attend law school upon completion of her undergraduate degrees so she can be a District Attorney for the city of Covina. Cassandra serves as an ideal candidate to interview for this project as her parents have direct affiliations with the Vietnam War. Both of Cassandra's parents were refugees of the Vietnam War, escaping to the United States right before the turmoil of the war peaked. Cassandra's parents escaped to tell their children of the disparities between life in the States and life in Vietnam. Cassandra and her sister's life trajectory greatly differs from their disadvantaged parents. With the opportunities that exist for her in the U.S, Cassandra plans to live the American Dream without any oppressions like her parents faced. Her family's experiences in the war truly depict a heart wrenching story that exemplify strength in the midst of hardship and war.
