Image shows view of the Mr. and Mrs. James E. Buchanan residence, located on Via Somonte, on lots 14, 27 & 26 block 1516, tract 6884 in Malaga Cove. View shows arched gateway entrance to enclosed patio of single-story, seven-room stucco house with tile roof. A stone pathway leads to a second doorway in distance. Landscaping was designed by the Olmsted Brothers, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. (1870-1957) and John Charles Olmsted (1852-1920.) A plaque that reads "Clareinch" is visible at right. This home is said to have received an honor award from the Southern California chapter of the American Institute of Architects for residences of seven to fifteen rooms, 1927-1929.
