Photograph was edited for publication purposes The caption refers to the Angeles National Forest fire that began on October 13, 1959 in the Dark Canyon area of the Angeles National Forest. 30 m.p.h. gusts were responsible for the swift and erratic spread of the fires that burned through La Can~ada Flintridge and Big Tujunga Canyon, and threatening a wide span of neighborhoods including Altadena, Pasadena, Palmdale, and La Crescenta. Photograph caption dated October 14, 1959 reads, "Brush fire roars out of control in San Gabriel Mountains at La Canada in worst blaze to hit Valley since Laurel Canyon fire last July. Firemen battled throughout night trying to get line around flaming hills. Flames spread as far west as foothills above Burbank. On eastern flank they threatened Cal Tech Jet Propulsion Laboratory, but were beaten back."; See images #00114961 through #00114964 for all photos in this series.
