California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP) Original description from KCET:
'Hope on Slum Street' visits side-by-side apartment buildings on South Hope Street. Located near the garment district in downtown Los Angeles, the sub-standard conditions of the buildings have become the focal point of the activities of three women. Profiled are: Mercedes Marquez, an attorney who specializes in housing and civil rights law; Mirta Ocana, a paralegal and the slum litigation unit coordinator in a suit against the owners of the buildings; and Arcelia Rojas de Ramirez, a tenant who is actively fighting for better conditions in the buildings.
