Description
The Tavern of Tamalpais, at the summit. The tavern fire ruins are visitble to the right of the locomotive. An open top Chevrolet pickup truck is next to the tracks. After the fire, Engine Number 7 stopped pulling an open air car filled with passengers at or near summit of Mount Tamalpais. Steam is seen rising from the top of the locomotive. Two men wearing hats, one with a vest, the other with a tie, are standing in front of the engine cab. The man with tie has hands on his hips. The engineer is peering out the window of the cab. The truck driver appears to be talking to the two men standing on the side of the engine and is pointing to something in the direction of the train. A couple of other men can be seen standing around and there is another railroad car, number 27, on a track next to the train. The summit of Mount Tamalpais can be seen in the background including a water tower, a lookout tower and the ruins of the Tavern of Tamalpais, which had burned to the ground.
