Description
Photograph of an elevated view of California Art Club. (former residence of Miss Aline Barnsdall), ca. 1932. Taken from the perspective of one of the house's many stairways (also known as the "Aline Barnsdall Hollyhock House", designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright), this photograph shows the architectural detail of the top portion of the central courtyard, especially the ornate "Hollyhock" motifs that decorate many of the house's external surfaces. In the extreme foreground, at right, a tree can be seen growing from the grounds of the courtyard. Many more trees can be seen beyond the house, in the surrounding park.
