Description: Supervisor Kenneth Hahn (seated) signs a proclamation designating February 7 through 14 as "Negro History Week" in Los Angeles County. Present at the ceremony were (from left) Mrs. Vassie D. Wright, Mrs. Madelene V. Dane, and Frank Allen, Co-Chairmen of Negro History Week. Our Authors Study Club, founded by Mrs. Wright, annually sponsors "Negro History Week" (now called Black History Week) in Los Angeles. Supervisor Hahn pointed out that Blacks have a rich and valient heritage and have contributed greatly to the progress of Los Angeles County. Photo dated: February 10, 1965.
