Description: Image of people viewing the ruins of the collapsed Dance Pavilion from the fire on the Abbot Kinney Pier in Venice, California, on December 20, 1920. Writing on the front of the photograph reads "Life lost by falling wall" (a firefighter died in the fire). The building at right says "Ocean Inn."

The fire was started on December 20, 1920, by a gas heater explosion in the Dance Pavilion. Account of the effects of the fire was transcribed from related item.
