Description
Eastern vāhalkada flanked by two steles, which are crowned by sculpted seated elephants. The steles are decorated by a kalpalata ("wishing creeper") motif issuing from a pūrnaghata. Next to each stele is a shorter one with a sculpted hooded cobra head. The central structure is flanked by two smaller structures include sculpted friezes. The central face of this vāhalkada (probably added in the 6th-7th century CE) shows details of the stone friezes starting at the bottom with a row of elephant heads (above the stone altar and with several other decorative friezes above them, including four prominent ones: a row of small "dormer windows" (present also in other similar structures), brackets with animal (makara?) heads separated by medallions (paterae), a row of sacred geese and, at the top, a row of ganas in various postures.
