Description
This 1915 postcard shows the Northern Electric Railroad's bridge, spanning the Sacramento River at M Street. Built of steel in 1911, and supported by five piers that penetrated as much as 60 feet below the river bed, the structure boasted a single railway, twin roadways and pedestrian walks. The bridge was built by the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Company.
