Description
Photograph dated December 2, 1942. Written on verso is, "Mexican youth problem. Meeting at Board of Supervisors. Manuel Ruiz Jr. newly elected chariman standing in back." According to a Los Angeles Times article dated December 3, 1942, "Ruiz Jr., a representative of Cultura Pan-Americana Inc., was selected as chairman of the committee of citizens appointed by Roger W. Jessup, as chairman of the Board of Supervisors, to further friendly relations with Latin-American republics and cope with problems of American youth of Spanish extraction living in Los Angeles County."
