Photograph of burned-out buildings in San Francisco after the earthquake and fire, 1906. The foundations and chimneys of several buildings can be seen in the foreground amidst piles of rubble and debris. Further in the distance, the walls of many buildings are visible, although most are heavily damage. A small number of trees can be seen, and none of the trees have leaves left. In the background, the bay is visible, and several tall ships can be seen at left. An island is visible in the middle of the water.
