Description
According to Frieda Low who worked for the hotel, the tower annex was built in 1928 and is on the left. The older section is on the right, and according to the Salinas Daily Journal Progress Edition of December 1915, it was opened 1 January 1888 . The article of the time says the original building had 54 rooms. According to Mrs. Low, the small leaning post in front of the middle parking meter on the right flank of the older building was a hitching post. William Jeffery Senior fought to keep the old hitching post when the city wanted it removed. This Photo may have been taken in the 1960s. This photograph is the property of the Salinas Californian.
