Text written under photo: "Photograph of the Hall of Records taken in 1882, before the building was completed. Note the walls not yet plastered." View looks west down McAllister at Hall of Records. Unique quintuple lamps in front of building. Unfinished City Hall can be seen behind. McAllister Street cable car rails in foreground, which look as though they are being undermined.
