Description
The White House Motel is the subject of this circa 1955 postcard. It rested along Business Route 40, which eventually became known as Auburn Boulevard. The opening of the North Sacramento Freeway, in 1947, germinated a slow decline of the litany of small, family-owned/operated motor hotels that lined 40, the White House being one of them.
