Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph article dated May 11, 1963 partially reads, "The public is invited to visit the new Burbank Retarded Children's Center, 1302 W. Glenoaks Blvd., Tuesday at an open house from 7 to 9 p.m. This is the first such event at the new facility, which was opened in January under the sponsorship of the Burbank Junior and Senior Woman's Clubs. Located on the grounds of the First Congregational Church, the center is for trainable retarded children with a mental span of three years and a physical age of between 5 to 14. The children are screened by a committee, which follows certain rules for acceptability." Pictured is Mrs. Spencer with some of her students.
