Description
John Ferraro, new City Councilman. Big John Ferraro today starts running interference for more than 250,000 residents of the fourth Los Angeles councilmanic district. Running in front of someone is nothing new for the former, two-time (1944-1947) University of Southern California All-American tackle. The massive (6 foot, 4 1/2 inch, 245 pound) native son was appointed to an interim position on the City Council from a field of 13 volunteers, to fill the vacancy created by the death last May 1, of Harold Henry. A resident of the district for 18 years, along with his wife, the former Julie Marie Luckey, Ferraro has no illusions about his new political appointment. Photo dated: May 25, 1966. Ferraro was a long-time member and president of the Los Angeles City Council.
