Transcription
A transition woodland type between the foothills proper below and ponderosa pine belt above. In the left background are found brush areas, frequently burned, which mainly support chamise (Adenostoma fasciculatum) and Ceanothus (Ceanothus cuneatus). To the right is dense woodland; digger pine, highland live oak, California blue oak, Christmas-berry and yerba santa predominate. The open grassy woodland in the foreground merges into the types above. Note the Sonora Catholic Cemetery in the center of photo. The cemetery supports a fine stand of needle-grass (Stipa pulchra). See Nos. 27432, 274322, 274323, and 274324, whereas the surrounding range is dominated by annuals.
