Photograph of sewer and drain maintenance, ca.1930. In the center, a man kneels on both knees as he bends over to hold onto a sewer cap in the middle of a residential street. To the right, a man stands with his right hand on a tube that extends out of a maintenance truck behind him. The truck has a driver on the left who sits holding the steering wheel with both hands. The driver sits in open air since the seat is not encased. In the right foreground, a bucket and a large pickax sits on the street while a flag stems from the sewer. A lightly colored house is visible to the right while telephone poles and parked cars can be seen on the left.
