Title supplied by cataloger. Designed by F. P. Burnham, this Classical Revival library building cost $34,000 to construct in 1908. An initial grant for $12,500 from Andrew Carnegie was later increased to $30,000, covering the majority of the expense. This building served as the city's public library from 1909 until 1972, when a fire forced its closure. It was demolished a year later. The benches at the park are almost full of people at rest as others head for the library entrance in this view of Lincoln Park, located at Ocean and Pacific in Long Beach. The site of the original plaza in Long Beach, Lincoln Park was renamed from Pacific Park in 1920. Palm and eucalyptus trees provide shade and a statue of Abraham Lincoln is on a pedestal, left. On the left side of the pedestal is a picture of the American flag with the caption "Old Glory, Let us have peace". Below the caption are the dates for the Civil War. The caption on the right side of the pedestal reads "Grant, Sherman, Sheridan".
