Description
"In 1957, I began learning about roping. Percy was teaching me. One day, as I was practicing how to rope, I was chasing after a goat (to practice only). The goat came out of the stall (at the Trancas Arena) and made a sharp turn to the left towards the side fence. As the goat approached the fence, it made a right turn towards the other end of the arena. I followed it with Tezshean and just as I made the right turn also, I heard a cracking sound and Tezshean's hind left leg instantly went up to her belly. I jumped off her and led her out of the arena. We called Dr. Humphreys, the vet. He came and brought a small platform, like a bathroom scale. They took and X-ray and found she had fractured her leg. It was not broken. So he put a cast on her leg above her ankle. This worked and her life was spared. She could never again move her back left ankles. It was always stiff. She was the best horse. She never gave me any trouble. I was fortunate growing up in those 3 or 4 years to ride her in many horse events. A few years later, we bred her and she gave us two foals."
