Alphabetical subject index to statutes from Counterple de voucher to Christien [for the letter X] court, citing earlier statutes not copied in this volume, from Magna Carta on; text begins defectively and is misbound, with the 2 center bifolia in exchanged order. ff. 8-10, 10v-12, 12v-195v; f. 196r-v blank. [Statuta nova]. Latin; French. f. 10r-v. [La patent de perambulacion fait de bou des forestes = Perambulation of forests]. Incipit: Le Roy a touz as queux cestes lettres viendront salutz. Title from printed catalog. Contains statutes from the reign of Edward III (1327-1377) through Henry V (1413-1422) Support: Parchment. Script: Secretary; Anglicana; Bastard anglicana. Layout: 1⁸(-1) 2¹²(-1) 3¹² 4-6⁸ 7⁸(-7, after f. 60) 8⁸(-8, after f. 68 with loss of 3 lines of text, apparently due to eyeskip) 9² 10-13⁸ 14⁴(-4, after f. 105 without loss of text) 16-17⁸ 18⁴ 19⁸(-1 after f. 132 with loss of text) 20⁸ 21⁸(-4, after f. 150 with loss of text) 22-26⁸ 27². Catchwords in inner lower margin, 2 in brown ink frames; no catchwords at end of quires 1-2, 8-9, 14, 18. 37-42 long lines, ruled in lead, with top and bottom 2 lines full across, and with an additional double rule in the outer margin for chapter numbers and in the upper margin for running headlines; slash prick marks in the 3 outer margins, frequently cropped. Other Decoration: 4- and 3-line gold initials on white-patterned blue/maroon grounds; the initial on f. 127 with a spray of blue and maroon leaves; paragraph marks alternating gold with ink flourishing and blue with red. Running headlines across the opening, omitted on ff. 9v-20v; chapter numbers in the outer margins; marginal notes in the hands of the scribes. Opening leaf for the abridgment of statutes and for each king's statutes excised, except for that on f. 71, where the opening initial has been cut away and the hole repaired with blank parchment.
