Description
This July 15, 1932, photograph provides a view of the California State Fair's Poultry Building. The 25,000-square-foot structure was built by Sacramento contractors Guth and Fox in 1931 and '32 at a cost of $75,000. The interior included portable coops and pens, and a central pool for water fowl. Designed by Alfred Eichler, upon completion, it was regarded to "be the finest exposition hall of its kind of any state fair plant in the country." The structure later was converted into the fair's Art Building. The tower of the Machinery Hall looms in the background.
