The structure (residential unit) on a stone-faced platform at right with pillars is a pasāda and adjacent to it a similar platform without pillars, a mālaka (according to a footnote in the translation of the Mahavamsa: "a space marked off and usually terraced, within which sacred functions were carried out") were separated by a moat and joined by a stone bridge. At extreme left is the entrance porch.
