Description: Image of a sweeping landscape view of Yosemite Valley in the western Sierra Nevada mountains in California; small figures on horseback at bottom right are dwarfed by the towering cliffs.
Date supplied by cataloger based on painting history; Hill's painting Yosemite Valley was exhibited in 1868 and the chromolithograph was advertised by L. Prang & Co. at least as early as 1870. "California scenery. After Thomas Hill's celebrated painting. Chromo-Lithographed and Published by L. Prang & Co. Washington [St., cor. Gardner, Boston. Entered according to act of Congress, in the year 186?, by L. Prang & Co., in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the] District of Mass."--text, label on verso. "Published by L.
