Litton Glass working lathe on which highpower vacuum tubes were made by Litton Industries of San Carlos, California. In 1924, Charles V. Litton designed and built the first practical glass blowing lathe, revolutionizing the vacuum tube industry; a year later, he graduated from Stanford University. In 1932, he founded Litton Industries, which became an important source for the vacuum tube, and later microwave, industries
