Photograph of aviator Willam Atwater at the controls of a Curtiss pusher at the Dominguez Hills Air Meet, 1912. The aircraft is at left and is facing to the right. It is a wood and canvas plane with a pusher propeller and tricycle landing gear. Atwater is seated near the front of the plane and is wearing a light shirt and dark pants. The wide dirt runway is lined with observers and automobiles in the distance. There is a row of advertising banners at left, including one banner advertising "Oil Rights".
