Description
Image of female jockeys in burlesque outfits riding horses around an outdoor racetrack with the two leading riders waving flags that read "The Night Owls" and "The French Folly Co.", as older men in suits tip their hats to them from the grandstand; with a vignette of the head of an owl at upper left; the poster advertises the "Beauty Show" by the Night Owls Burlesque Company.
Probable date supplied by cataloger based on reference to a performance of the "Night Owls Beauty Show" in April 1892 in Odell, Annals of the New York Stage, Vol. XV, page 142; full printer name supplied by cataloger. "The Spri[nger]"--text fragment, lower right of image. "Robt. Manchester / Sole Manager / Also Manager / French Folly Co."--text, upper right. "'Burlesque Shows' there are by the score / And 'Great Ones,' too-from their talk / But the 'Night Owls' and the 'French Folly Co' / 'At the finish' will win in a walk-"--text, bottom left.
