Richard Goodwin discusses his book, “Remembering America.” Goodwin served as a speechwriter for both President John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He begins this interview by discussing the changing role of speechwriters from the Roosevelt administration through the 1980s. He goes on to discuss his impressions of both Kennedy and Johnson and their administrations. He also discusses his involvement in Latin American politics and how it lead to his removal from Kennedy’s inner circle. Towards the end of the interview Goodwin shares his memories of Kennedy’s assassination.
